Night

This is my first post to Illustration Friday. As soon as I learned that Night was this week's topic, for some reason I just could not shake the image of a crow from my mind.

Creating this image was a wonderful experience. I felt a renewed excitement about my art all week. Can't wait to do the next one!

Welcome to IF! It definitely is exciting to have a weekly challenge. This is a really cool illustration. I love the overpowering, ominous presence the crow creates as it dominates the space. The cloudy, scratchy blue cover and the moon complete the sense of nature and mystery. Great colors, technique, and composition...really wonderful...is this paint?

I started doing IF not too long ago, and I agree it does give you a great high all week long to know you're working in such a great community.

This illustration immediately brought to mind The Beatles' song "Blackbird". I think that your bird, where it intersects the moon, is flying into the "light of the dark black night". I don't think that was intentional, but it's cool nonetheless.
