Rain

It kinda figures that the week our Illustration Friday theme is "Rain" is the week it's bright and sunny and hot here in the Seattle area. Trying to come up with some inspiration in spite of the unusual lack of precipitation, I got out my watercolors and started doodling. I've been missing my watercolors and it was fun to play with them again.

Blue Echo

Here is another new piece, entitled Blue Echo. It's acrylics/mixed media/collage on a 36" x 24" canvas.

I'm still feeling on track, though I almost overwhelmed myself today with all the things I want to do with my art. So many things I couldn't decide what to do first. Paint this one, paint that one, look this up, label these slides, update my website, etc., etc. I kept getting more frustrated and nothing at all was getting done as I spun my wheels. So, I took a breath, let myself be still for a while, and a new painting started. I still have lots to do, but I have to remind myself it will all get done in time if I just steadily keep moving forward.

Inspire Me Thursday: In Good Time

The prompt for Inspire Me Thursday this week was "In Good Time" - the idea being to create a piece of art in a timed session, to make it in less time that you might usually take to complete a piece. While I was mulling this idea over on Tuesday, I wandered out to get the mail and found the matchbox you see in the piece in our apartment's parking lot. It's for a cafe in New York City, a continent away!

Synchronicity much?!

(So, now I've completed the piece, but am having trouble getting to Inspire Me Thursday's site, so perhaps I didn't complete it in good time.)

Dance

small renovation

Last night my husband, at my request, was showing me some fancy blogging stuff so I can do more with my blog. At one point, something went wrong and I lost my sidebar information. So, now I'm rebuilding it.

We did accomplish one thing though, and that is a "subscribe to this blog" button which you can see over in the sidebar. Feel free to click it! :)

Getting all my ducks, um, I mean geese - in a row

I took this photo a couple of weeks ago over at the Bothell River. I couldn't believe how many goslings there were! (So cute too! Fuzzy all over and even though they're larger than the adult ducks, they still peep.) The adult goose was in the process of herding them into the river so they could cross and get bread crumbs from the family of humans on the other bank.

The past couple of weeks I've been pretty busy. I've been painting a lot, and I've actually started to seriously think about my marketing again too. This makes me nervous, and I have to be careful not to overdo it because marketing can easily feel overwhelming and makes me shut down. I'm approaching it slowly, and I feel pretty good about it so far. I'm considering blogging my efforts, and their results, as an incentive to keep at it, but I'm not sure. We'll see.

Anyway, 5 paintings (3 of which you've seen my lame photos of here on my blog) are off being professionally photographed. Then it's time to get slides and enter competitions, approach galleries, etc. And of course I'll be posting the new and improved images here.

I'm also looking into getting small fine art prints made to sell. Anybody interested? Any particular pieces you've seen here or on my website that you'd like to own a print of? Though I have to complete my research, I think I'll be selling in the range of 8x10 prints for about $25 up to 16x20 prints for about $100, shipping & tax included. If all goes well, they should be available in a few weeks.

New Painting

This is my latest creation, just completed this morning.

[6/3 - here's a better (hopefully) image of it. Sorry it's so dark. I need to rephotograph it.)
